I am obsessed with this new show on Bravo. It's just like project runway but with fine artists instead of fashion designers! I'm rooting for Abdi right now but Nicole is a female Industrial Designer! They are all amazing artists actually. It's really inspiring and motivating.

TygaTyga!!!

Tyga and me with the shirt I painted for him. 

The day of the show I started painting Tygas portrait at work and tweeted pictures of my progress and then a final picture when I was done. Not only did Tyga see the final picture on twitter and retweet it to all his followers but I got to meet Tyga and give him the shirt! This experience was definitely the peak of my summer! 

And btw Tyga is a great performer. He has so much energy. but when you talk to him hes very down to earth and chill. I have a lot more respect for him after seeing him perform and meeting him...

Anyways...2 portraits of Prince coming soon... (not for prince tho unfortunately)

Chuck Close is an incredible portrait artist who is a huge inspiration... you might have to go to the fora.tv site to see the whole thing. its like an hour long. but if u just wanna skip to certain parts it has titled chapters on the fora.tv site. The part about disabilities is pretty great. Kind of makes you feel like an A-hole for ever making excuses for not doing something though...
If your an artist you should probably watch/listen to it all the way through tho.

Va$htie Kola

Female Music Video Director Va$htie Kola is a rarity in the male dominated field of video directing. I really look up to her as a role model for women working in male dominated fields which if you know me is kind of my thing.... Tom boys will one day rule the world...... lol

Johnny Cupcakes!!!!

So a few weeks ago I went to Boston with my boyfriend and his brother to help him sell his art at the Nike Indoor Nationals track meet and while we were there we decided to stop by this store called Johnny Cupcakes... that does not sell cupcakes...

It sounds weird I know...but its actually one of the best things in the world.... 

Below is the shirt that I bought (this is the first shirt I've EVER bought for more than $20! Gasp!) I had to spoil myself for once and buy something expensive that made me happy :-)

The Black List Vol. 1-3 on HBO on demand is probably one of the best documentaries I've ever seen...
Perfect for black history month.
I don't really know how to discribe how good this program is without sounding corny or cliche...
I don't know what to say to convince you (yes you!) that you should watch this or at least parts of it, no matter what race you are or how much you think you already know about African-Americans.

All I can say is...you should watch this...
